The Lions participated at the Haverford College Invitational on Friday, Oct. 24.
The event, held at Haverford College in Easton, Pa., focused on individual performance, and did not score overall team achievements.
The women's team entered the race 11th in the nation, moving up a position. They finished six Lions runners in the top 10.
Leading the Lions in this meet was freshman Shannon Dawe. Dawe finished second with 18:52, in the three-mile course. Not far behind Dawe was sophomore Jennifer Zucaro with a third place time of 18:53.
Finishing in fifth place was sophomore Briana Bayersdorfer with a time of 19:10, while freshman Allyson Krayl finished sixth with a time of 19:16.
Freshmen Grace Nuzzi and Lindsay Force finished seventh and eighth, while freshman Patty Wilson finished 12th.
Leading the men's team, junior Eric Gross earned a 10th place finish with a time of 21:07 in the four-mile race.
Sophomore Bill Vogel finished 13th with a time of 21:32.
Behind Vogel was freshman Matt Stambaugh, who finished 25th with a time of 22:27. Freshman Craig Beall finished 33rd overall with a time of 23:02.
Lafayette College Leopard Invitational
The Lions cross country team participated at last week's Lafayette College Leopard Invitational held at Metgers Field in Easton, Pa.
The women's team, ranked 12th in the nation, finished fourth out of the 12 teams in attendance.
Once again, senior Beth Vesey led the team with a finishing time of 20:51.55 in the women's 5,800-meter race. Vesey earned a second place finish behind Princeton's Pilar Marin who won with a time of 20:49.00.
Out of the 117 competitors in the field, Lions senior Erin Cahill finished with a time of 21:43.42.
Freshman Christine Nystrom finished 32nd with a time of 22:10.48. Lions sophomore Kara Horner and freshman Jenna Fasulo finished 35th and 37th.
The 12th ranked men's team earned fifth place at the Leopard Invitational. Junior Brian Donovan finished second overall with a time of 25:47.54, just behind the first place finish time of 25:46.42.
Next to finish was Lions senior Brian Brach who finished third overall with a time of 25:49.50, giving the Lions two of the first three place finishes.
Juniors Joe Lacovara-Switzer and Rob Barger earned the 25th and 29th positions, while junior Matt Molski finished 38th overall.
Upcoming Meet
The Lions will attend the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships (NJAC) on Nov. 1, at 11 a.m., at Washington's Crossing Park in Titusville.
