Junior forward Kevin Luber advanced the Lions to a 4-2 win over the Scarlet Raptors on Wednesday with a long-awaited hat trick. The captain’s big night raised his total goals on the season to four. “It was a big relief,” Luber said. “I only scored one goal all season before this game.”
Luber also got the assist on the Lions’ third goal, scored by sophomore mid-fielder Anthony DiPalmo.
The Scarlet Raptors (4-5-2) challenged the Lions the entire game. Sophomore forward Todd Kleinstuber scored the Raptors’ first goal in the 17th minute to tie it 1-1. After Luber took the lead with his second goal in the first half, junior midfielder Shane McGrory tied the game before halftime at 2-2.
The Lions may have felt the pressure during the second half, but the team never gave up and ended the game with a win against their New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) opponents, increasing its record to 4-3-3.
The Lions will host Messiah College this Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
