This season, the fashion world has seen a shift in footwear trends. Get yourself ready to go out with the old and in with the new as we give you just a few examples of the latest and greatest ways to strut on the city streets:

Ankle Boots: Pushing its way past the ever-popular riding boot, these ankle-hugging beauties will elevate your style from zero to 100 really quickly. Probably the greatest thing about this trend is that it’s so versatile. Pair them with a cute knee-length dress or even some ankle-cropped jeans and you’ve got yourself a recipe for the runway.

Birkenstock Sandals: Fashion seems to have an obsession with making unconventionally appealing styles a hot trend. These German-made sandals have a bit of a chunky feel to them that has previously had the reputation of an “around the house” shoe. Enter 2014, however, and top style icons, such as Heidi Klum, have incorporated these shoes into their everyday street fashion. Designers such as Miu Miu and Tory Burch have even put their own spin on this trend out on the market.

Strappy Heels: Though we all love our pumps, models have been spotted wearing open-toed strappy heels on the city streets. This simplistic shoe is sure to bring an air of sheer elegance to your wardrobe. These heels are ideal for pairing with jeans to pull off a casual-meets-sophisticated ensemble.

Slip-On Sneakers: Nothing is better than when comfort meets fashion. Say goodbye to the days of compromise and say hello to new days of strutting down the city streets without grimacing from the pain of unforgiving shoes. Don’t be afraid to pair your slip-ons with a dress or skirt to show off your ability to master New York street style.
