from the roberts fall spainAt home, the leaves are changing color and the stores are filled with pumpkin-scented everything. In Seville, the sun still sets late in the evening and the lowest temperature I have yet to see remains well into the 70s. And believe it or not, despite the heat, the locals still don traditional fall garb, but with a twist of European elegance.

This week I caught up with Jane Dexter, a sophomore finance major, and my roommate both at TCNJ and in our lovely city of Seville. When I asked her what trend she loved most from the Europeans’ fall style she responded, “I’m loving all of the leather in Europe during this time of year. It’s warm, so it’s efficient, and it’s absolutely chic. Whether it’s a bag or shoes. A jacket or pants. A little touch polishes off the outfit perfectly.” And polish off her outfit, it did! Jane wore an oversized white tunic over a pair or opaque black leggings. Her leather accessory of choice for the day? A pair of simple black booties. And to finalize her outfit, Jane sported a necklace of local Seville turquoise pearls.

I recreated Jane’s look by using a few American pieces, which can be worn, either on TCNJ’s campus, or in a big Spanish city to look effortlessly fashionable. The first piece I chose was from Free People’s FP One collection. FP One’s white blouse is the perfect substitute for Jane’s white tunic, and if ordered oversized it can easily be paired with the Urban Outfitter’s opaque legging featured below. Unfortunately, no turquoise pearls from the river of Seville exist in American companies, but to add a little flare, I chose Gypsy Warrior’s Sun Guide Necklace. The color will add just a little pop, bound to make a big statement. And lastly, for just a dash more spice, I chose the H&M biker pants. Swapping these leather lovelies for the tights adds some badass sass.

Hasta luego, fashionistas!

Until Next Time,
From the Roberts
