Demonstrators gathered outside the New Jersey State House for the “Take New Jersey Back” rally ahead of a Senate session on immigration bills on Monday. Hosted by Paul Kanitra, the event drew residents to hear from lawmakers, activists and U.S. Senate candidates. Later on Monday, lawmakers advanced three ICE-related measures to Mikie Sherrill, who signed off on the bills on Wednesday, putting them into effect for the state of New Jersey. Each bill had previously been vetoed by former Gov. Phil Murphy in his last day of office, including proposals involving law enforcement face coverings and federal cooperation.
