When I heard Destiny's Child's "Lose my Breath" for the first time a couple months ago, I thought it was just a Beyonc? song. It took me a few listens to realize that Beyonce had gone back to the group that made her famous and the girls that had helped her up, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
Once I figured out what was going on, I couldn't believe Beyonc? actually went back to Destiny's Child. Everyone knows that Beyonc? was the leader of the pack. That's why it was no surprise that she went solo last year.
At the same time Justin Timberlake was enjoying his solo fame, Beyonc? made a triumphant debut with "Dangerously in Love." She hit the award shows, recorded duets with her boyfriend, rapper Jay-Z, and became the "it girl" of 2003.
Now, however, millions of records and five Grammys later, Beyonce is back to being one of three.
I can't help but admire Beyonc?'s decision. It's obvious that she doesn't need Destiny's Child.
In a recent television interview, when asked why she made the decision, Beyonce simply stated that she loves her girls and loves performing with them.
Too bad the same couldn't be said for Justin Timberlake. While you may be happy that he's spared you the pain of having to listen to 'NSync again, JRT (the "R" is for Randall, of course) left his boys in the dust. J.C., Lance, Joey and Chris are each trying out their own thing now, but they'll probably never have another chance at stardom.
To put it plainly, Beyonc? has proven that, at least in one aspect, she's way cooler than Justin Timberlake. Instead of leaving Kelly and Michelle behind, she's brought them up to a new level with her.
Sure, it's a star making millions of dollars, but isn't it nice to know that there are still people out there who aren't in it only for themselves?
