Album: “Talk To Me So I Can Fall Asleep”

Crater slides swiftly into the ranks of Seattle-based electronic artists with its debut “Talk to Me So I Can Fall Asleep.” Ceci Gomez and Kessiah Gordon have sculpted an album, which stutters, burns and breaks, yet holds your attention throughout this industrial pop record. Many of the brooding sounds created by this power duo have been taken from their internet collection in a desktop folder titled “Black Hole.” These samples have stemmed from GIFs and torrents, which are completely relevant to current meme culture, but very subtle. No matter what internet noise the brain baby of each song was made from, this record will not make you doze off, even if the title makes you think otherwise.

Album: “People Going Somewhere”

Genre: Blues Rock

Influences such as David Bowie, The Beach Boys and Elvis Presley permeate within Jon Patrick Walker’s sophomore release. The actor-turned-writer is inspired by rock, blues and folk, which creates a sound reminiscent of classic rock. Familiar and present, “People Going Summer” emphasizes the idea of original techniques in song making and rejects new age genres and styles. This album seems to reflect on creating music nestled in the artist’s roots, which he aims to portray in his original songs. Your dad would probably really like this album.
