The College’s Board of Trustees met via a Zoom webinar on Tuesday, Feb. 25 to discuss reports from five of its committees, with all motions passed.

Chair Carl Gibbs ‘93 was supposed to lead the meeting, but asked Vice Chair Shu Mukherjee ‘01 to lead due to his loss of power from the snowstorm.

“I also want to thank the campus facility staff, who’ve obviously been working tirelessly over the course of the last few days, and what’s been a very challenging winter,” said Mukherjee. “They obviously deserve a lot of our deep gratitude for all the hard work they’re doing to keep our community safe, our students safe and the campus is looking beautiful, as it always does.”

Before going over the agenda, Mukherjee spotlighted the new trustees. There are four total new members, but only three were present for the meeting. All new members are alumni from the College, including Angela Bess ‘92, Suchir Govindarajan ‘21, Laura Lalicon ‘15 and Tom McCarthy ‘90. The board usually does a swearing-in ceremony, which is postponed for the next in-person meeting.

Reports were given from the board’s Executive Committee, Mission Fulfillment Committee, Inclusive Excellence Committee, Business and Infrastructure Committee and the Report of the Audit, Risk Management and Compliance Committee.

The board voted in favor of resolutions for all committees and approved of the following:

  • Executive Committee: Approved faculty and staff hires, reappointments, retirements and emeritus, allowing a retired person to keep their title.

  • Mission Fulfillment Committee: Approved two new bachelor’s degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television and to continue supporting the College's strategic plan, “Elevating Excellence: A Strategy for TCNJ.”

  • Inclusive Excellence Committee: Approved to update the Americans with Disabilities Act policy.

  • Business and Infrastructure Committee: Approval of the President or his designee to finalize the sale of certain property, changes to the Lions Plus Program and its fees and to revise the investment policy.

  • Report of the Audit, Risk Management and Compliance Committee: Approval of advertising waivers, updating the litigation and separation agreement policy and the 2025 annual single audit.

The next public meeting of the College’s Board of Trustees, the annual tuition hearing, will be held on Thursday, April 30. The time and location are to be announced.
