Swimming earns All-American honors



Due to an error in last week's swimming article, some of the College's award winners from the men's national swimming meet were omitted.

The Lions posted a time of 3:27.30 in the consolation finals of the 400-medley relay to earn an All-American Honorable Mentionable citation.?The foursome of freshman Liam Gallagher, junior tri-captain Steve Swenson, senior tri-captain Nick Steffanci and sophomore Kyle King recorded a time of 3:27.48 in the preliminaries to garner a ninth-place seeding in the finals.

Swenson finished fifth in the championship finals of the 100-breaststroke event with his time of 56.80 to garner an All-American citation.

The Lions posted a time of 1:34.30 in the championship finals of the 200-medley relay and finished seventh to earn All-American honors.? The foursome of freshman Kevin Oliver, Swenson, freshman Josh Forsman and Steffanci recorded a time of 1:34.13 in the preliminaries to garner an eighth-place seeding in the finals.

The 800-free relay team of senior tri-captain Chris Levin, freshman Liam Gallagher, King and Forsman came in 13th with their time of 7:02.51 and picked up All-American Honorable Mention honors.



Grant adds to his list of accolades



Senior forward Derick Grant of the College's men's basketball team was named to both the 2005 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and D3Hoops.com All-Region Teams this week.

Grant was named to the NABC Atlantic District First Team and is now a candidate for All-America honors. He was also tapped by D3Hoops.com to the 2005 Men's All-Atlantic Region First Team. He is also a candidate for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Metro Team and ECAC Player of the Year, honors which have not yet been announced.

Grant, the Lions' co-captain, led the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) and the Lions in scoring the entire season and finished the year with a league leading 20.8 points per game. He finished his career as the College's No. 2 all-time leading scorer with 1,543 points. He is a two-time NJAC All-Star First Team honoree and last year he was a NABC Second Team All-District pick as well as an ECAC All-Star Second Team honoree.



DiMedio named South Jersey's best



On April 4, senior tri-captain Theresa DiMedio of the College's women's basketball team will be named as the South Jersey Collegiate Player of the Year by the Al Carino Girls' Basketball Club of South Jersey at the Hilton Philadelphia / Cherry Hill in Cherry Hill.

DiMedio is the fourth Lion to receive this honor. The club was founded by Albert Carino in 1962 as the Basketball Club of South Jersey.

She was also named to the 2005 ECAC Division III Metro Women's Basketball Second Team.

DiMedio earned her first-ever all-conference accolade with a nod on the NJAC All-Conference First Team in recognition of her career-best campaign.?DiMedio was also tapped as the NJAC Co-Player of the Year and was voted to the D3hoops.com All-Atlantic Region Third Team.

She finished her senior year leading the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio with a mark of 1.68, while ranking tied for 11th in the league in scoring with a team-high average of 11.3 points per game.



Intramural Basketball crowns champions



The 12-week intramural basketball season wrapped up on March 23. The following teams were league champions:
