As the wrestle maniacs are gearing up for Wrestlemania 32 on Sunday, April 3, in Dallas, it’s hard not to try to predict exactly what the night will bring.
Last year, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) gave fans a long-awaited debut match from Sting and Seth Rollins’s first World Heavyweight Championship win. Wrestlemania 31 also received highly positive reviews from critics and was reported as the highest-grossing WWE event ever held.
How will Wrestlemania 32 live up to the hype this year? Will it deliver to fans a memorable show on the grandest stage of them all?
Major superstars like John Cena, Randy Orton and Rollins will all be missing the show due to injuries, along with smaller talents who have been sidelined over the past few months.
As the top stars on WWE’s main roster, it’s hard to think of a Wrestlemania without the three superstars, especially since Cena has been a part of every show since his debut at Wrestlemania XX and remains the face of the WWE, even in his absence.
Rollins was literally on a roll in the company, proving himself to be a top dog and one of this era’s most amazing heels — or bad guy, in wrestling terminology — on the main roster before his injury was announced. While Orton had been involved in many feuds before his injury, fans were hoping to see a match between Orton and Brock Lesnar.
Instead, Lesnar will be facing Dean Ambrose in a No Holds Barred match.
A surprise comeback at Wrestlemania from any of the three superstars will be loved and appreciated by the fans, especially since there has been heavy debate about whether or not the already-announced matches will deliver both entertainment and engrossing storylines.
Wrestlemania will feature main event matches — Triple H vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and Shane McMahon vs. The Undertaker, with McMahon gaining control of WWE’s headline show, Monday Night RAW, if he pulls off a win.
Charlotte (whose real name is Ashley Fliehr) will also be defending her WWE Divas Championship title against Becky Lynch and crowd favorite Sasha Banks.
Charlotte is owning her new image as an entertaining heel with her microphone skills and her athleticism. This, combined with the crowd’s love for Banks, has made Lynch the underdog and she will have a lot to prove if she wants to stand out in the ring with these two ladies.
This will also be the first in-ring match at Wrestlemania for the three NXT, WWE’s developmental branch, alumnae. The Divas Division has definitely proven that women can entertain just as well as the men can, with the whole idea of the Divas revolution and the talent on the Divas roster. Another Divas match would have been great to watch at Wrestlemania this year, considering the roll the division has been on lately.
There are also a list of other matches, including Kalisto vs. Ryback for the United States Title. The teams of The New Day vs. League of Nations for the WWE Tag Team Championship, Jimmy and Jey Uso vs. The Dudley Boyz and the third annual Andre the Giant Battle Royals that fans are hoping will deliver.
A ladder match for the intercontinental championship was also recently announced, giving fans the chance to see Dolph Ziggler, Stardust, Zack Ryder, Sin Cara, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and The Miz battle it out on the Wrestlemania stage.
Even with mixed reviews, WWE still promises fans an entertaining night. If past Wrestlemanias can prove one thing, it’s that there are always surprises.
