This week we wanted to introduce you to the other half of this dynamic duo, Samantha! Samantha is a fashion-lovin’ Journalism major who hopes to one day write for a beauty or fashion magazine. Let’s see what she had to say for herself this week!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Y4Im_NQvs0&feature=youtu.be
As always, we recreated Sam’s outfit with pieces that are as equally cute as those that she herself sported. First, we picked the same Free People backless halter that Samantha wore in her video. On the bottom, we chose the Out From Under Alvardo Short from Urban Outfitters. These shorts are completely versatile; they are perfect for lounging on the beach or a summer-night out with friends. Not only are these shorts comfortable and adorable, but they are also only $28. (Does it get any better than that???) To finish off this look, we chose the Gilroy Sandal by Sam Edelman in black. The style of this shoe is the perfect mix of sophisticated and simple. (We each want our own pair...) And, of course, no outfit is complete without a
little accessorizin’. The layered Half Moon Rosary Necklace from Urban Outfitters is the perfect finishing touch. And voila! An outfit that is the perfect combination of comfort and cute.
Thanks so much for hanging out with us this past year! We can’t wait to see what next semester will have in store for us, as well as our fashionista readers.
Sending much love and warm wishes of a happy (and of course, fashionable) summer!
Until next time,

This week we decided to let all of our readers in to our world a little bit. We decided to take this week’s blog as an opportunity to better know one of our founders, Raquel. Raquel chose to be a part of From the Roberts because she loves to both write and explore the world of fashion. Two activities that “allow one to fully express who they are to the world in their own voice and on their own terms.” We caught up with her on campus and got to hear all about her favorite springtime go-to’s, as well as catch a glimpse at what a fashion blogger likes to rock on their down time.
[embed]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51ry_ryiE_s&feature=youtu.be[/embed]
Below we have recreated Raquel’s look in an adorable and affordable way! With classic simple pieces like Raquel’s and the ones below, layering becomes as easy as possible, and your wardrobe will go to infinity and beyond. To add a little edge, simply mix and match these staples with colorful, patterned or textured pieces for a bit of fun.
And in the words of our co-founder, Raquel, “Be bold, fashionistas! Try something new, never be afraid to be who you and always show that wonderful person off!”
Until next time,

The countdown to spring is finally over!!! Well, sort of..
While the spring is technically here, the weather remains relentlessly chilly. TCNJ fashionistas are dressing up and dressing accordingly by slowly transitioning their warm winter wardrobes into lighter spring ensembles. Janet Park, English and Spanish double major, says that she transitions her wardrobe from winter to spring by keeping it simple: “The easiest way to transition your style is to layer,” she says. Here, Park layers a grey long sleeve Brandy Melville top with her Zara trench coat. On the bottom, Park pairs her Forever 21 plaid shorts (which we love) with a pair of black tights and little booties.
The two of us love how Park paired her bottoms with a pair of sheer black tights. “Tights are the perfect way to dress up any outfit,” Park says. She then adds that “tights are great because you can wear cute dresses, shorts and skirts without looking too bare/being too cold” during the colder spring days. Not only this, but tights automatically make any outfit classier. The tights were the perfect finishing touch to Park’s ensemble.
Taking Janet’s outfit as inspiration we compiled a few looks that make us swoon. Tobi recently released some spring pieces and featured a handful of AH-DORABLE shorts in all different styles. Their Plaid For the Bad short reminded us of Janet’s look and we can see it on fashionistas everywhere. We also picked black leather shorts with a floral design and a pink skort!
To top off the shorts, and add flare and style, layer your outfit with a cute trench! We chose three simple coats, all designed by Forever21, and all affordable. Two of the jackets featured below are simple in off-white and grey and will add sophistication. For a pop of crazy cool, try out the Checked Dolman Jacket! Pair it with any plain pair of short and it makes a statement. Or- if you’re a daredevil- try it with a pair of patterned shorts and try to mix and match. Good luck, fashionistas! We know you can rock anything.

Although we love to blog about the looks and trends we love, there is nothing we love more than actually making them come to life. This week we took a peak in to our personal closets to show just how we practice what we preach! We chose to focus on pieces we use in our daily wardrobes that add a bit of edge, remain practical and create the wow factor that every outfit should be accompanied by.
The both of us can agree that a basic combat boot is a shoe-go-to for fashionistas looking to keep it simple. But if you’re like us, then you definitely like to take your boot game to another level every now and then. To dress up any casual outfit, opt for a heeled combat boot, rather than a flat. Raquel just bought these adorable maroon leather ones from DSW, and she has been sporting them around campus in both casual and dressier outfits. Raquel loves this pair because they remind her of Doc Martens, which of course add a little bit of edge to any outfit.
If you’re looking to stick to the basics, then go for a simple black-heeled combat, such as the Aldo Trusa boots below. Or, if you’re like the two of us, then you might be searching for a little extra edge when it comes to footwear. Both the Steve Madden Noodless and the Aldo Abeawen booties are perfect for any one looking to up their shoe style.
Yet another trend that the two of us are currently obsessing over are fur and fleece lined winter coats. We get it. It’s hard to put a lot of effort into your outfit when you feel like you are going to get frostbite every time you step outside. Luckily, the fleece / fur on these jackets adds a little extra warmth (of course while adding a loooooot of style). Samantha bought this Pull & Bear coat while she was visiting Raquel on her study abroad program in Spain. “I have a basic winter coat that I wear from day to day,” Samantha says, “but when I’m looking to be a bit dressier, I always opt for this jacket. It’s perfect. I love it.”
Below, the two of us have compiled a few fur/ fleece lined jackets that we think are must haves. Not only are they adorable, but they are also all under $100!! We love a good deal ?
Stay Warm!!!

In the dead of winter, fashion laziness is at an all-time high. Who really wants to get all dolled up, just to freeze on the walk to class? (Definitely not us, that’s for sure) Luckily, over-sized clothing and comfy basics are what’s in during the winter fashion season. No worries, you don’t have to sacrifice your comfort or warmth in order to keep trendy.
We caught TCNJ junior and communications major, Cat Castaldo, rockin’ her comfy winter style on her way to class. Cat paired a white, over-sized wool sweater with a pair of classic black skinny jeans. For a little edge, Cat added a black choker that was created by Little Words Project, a company founded by a TCNJ alumna. Looking classic and effortless all in one, Cat described her outfit as, “one of my absolute go-to’s.” She added that, “Anyone could easily wear two simple pieces like these and be comfortable yet look completely put together. This took minimal effort!” And we completely agree.
Below we have created a winter-basics outfit of our own that mocks Cat’s comfy ensemble.
While black skinny jeans are a staple in any wardrobe, we decided to change things up by opting for a pair of distressed ones instead. Similar to Cat’s over-sized wool sweater, we selected this textured-knit from H&M. This cream colored sweater is another winter go-to; you can dress it up, layer it, or rock it plain and simple, as Cat did. To add a little edge, we finished off this simple outfit by adding a Little Words Project choker, as Cat did. Our LWP choker of choice? Luck. Here’s to hoping that we all have a little luck with having a short and painless winter season. We’re ready for spring’s warmth!!

¡Saludos desde España! After three (very long and seemingly endless) three months apart, we though to ourselves, “What better place for a family reunion than Sevilla, Spain?” So now we are writing you from Raquel’s apartment in the center of the city and we could not be more excited to be back together and blogging. Samantha’s jaw went slack when she took in the amazing old city and all of its tremendous architecture and ruins. And when Raquel took her to the local restaurants for tapas Samantha was at a loss for words once more. BUT the two of them could be found mouth agape and astounded by the gorgeous fashions on all of the Sevillans.
If you’re like us, then fitting all of your favorite wardrobe pieces into your tiny suitcase (shoes included) is a struggle when preparing for travel. So, when coming to Spain, Samantha had to pack selectively. For shoe wear, she decided on her white converse, her distressed black-heeled booties, and a pair of leather combat boots: all of which are staples in her American wardrobe.
“At first, I wasn’t sure if I should take my heeled booties with me to Spain because I didn’t know if I would get much use out of them,” Samantha says. “As soon as I got to Spain, I realized that booties are just as huge in Spanish fashion as they are back home. Definitely a good choice to bring them!”
To indulge in this Spanish/ American fashion trend like Samantha, all you will need is a simple pair of leather booties. The two of us love them so much because they polish off any outfit and they are so easy to wear. Above are a few of our (affordable and adorable) favorites!
Another Spanish/American fashion trend that the two of us love: all things leather.
Raquel says, “I have bought so many leather staple items since studying abroad in Spain! My favorite so far is this pair of Leather Zara leggings. They are so easy to wear. And let’s be honest, I feel like a complete badass wearing them.” We love that Raquel’s outfit manages to bring the best of Spanish and American style. Raquel’s all black-Spanish look is polished off with a big, and very American-style typical, flannel. In order to rock a casual, leather-bottomed ensemble, like Raquel, pair your pants with a black high-neck tank, an oversized sweater, cardigan or flannel, and a black (leather, of course) ankle boot.
The best thing about leather is its ability to be made casual or absolutely posh. But no matter what, rocking leather gives your outfit a sleek chic and daringly sexy appeal to it.
Until next time fashionistas!
Hasta luego,

At home, the leaves are changing color and the stores are filled with pumpkin-scented everything. In Seville, the sun still sets late in the evening and the lowest temperature I have yet to see remains well into the 70s. And believe it or not, despite the heat, the locals still don traditional fall garb, but with a twist of European elegance.
This week I caught up with Jane Dexter, a sophomore finance major, and my roommate both at TCNJ and in our lovely city of Seville. When I asked her what trend she loved most from the Europeans’ fall style she responded, “I’m loving all of the leather in Europe during this time of year. It’s warm, so it’s efficient, and it’s absolutely chic. Whether it’s a bag or shoes. A jacket or pants. A little touch polishes off the outfit perfectly.” And polish off her outfit, it did! Jane wore an oversized white tunic over a pair or opaque black leggings. Her leather accessory of choice for the day? A pair of simple black booties. And to finalize her outfit, Jane sported a necklace of local Seville turquoise pearls.
I recreated Jane’s look by using a few American pieces, which can be worn, either on TCNJ’s campus, or in a big Spanish city to look effortlessly fashionable. The first piece I chose was from Free People’s FP One collection. FP One’s white blouse is the perfect substitute for Jane’s white tunic, and if ordered oversized it can easily be paired with the Urban Outfitter’s opaque legging featured below. Unfortunately, no turquoise pearls from the river of Seville exist in American companies, but to add a little flare, I chose Gypsy Warrior’s Sun Guide Necklace. The color will add just a little pop, bound to make a big statement. And lastly, for just a dash more spice, I chose the H&M biker pants. Swapping these leather lovelies for the tights adds some badass sass.
Hasta luego, fashionistas!

As the student body of TCNJ headed back to Ewing for the start of the semester, I, Raquel, took a slightly different path. Instead of packing my car and making the drive down Route One, I stuffed mysuitcases, boarded a flight and landed in Seville, Spain. Despite being miles away from anything and everything I have ever known, I was excited about what amazing opportunity lie ahead. The men are gorgeous. The food is to die for (after you Instagram it!) and the fashion is BONITA! My trip advisor Maria Jesus, a student and resident of Seville, was the first of whose fashion I took note.
The typical street style in the south of Spain is relaxed, effortless and still polished and chic. Maria rocks loose olive trousers, a slouchy white tee and a long statement necklace. When recreating Maria’s look, I found that Spanish stores Zara and Mango offered adorable options while remaining cost friendly.
While Maria kept her look simple and classy, the way most Spaniards dress, the look can be made just a tad more American by swapping the solid colored pant for a pattern such as the one below by Mango. Another swap that can be made is by ditching the sandals and swapping them with Birkenstocks. The German sandal is taking over the world as it came back into style with full force this past summer. The simplicity of the shoe can make even the fanciest of trousers, if say you opted for the beige Mango pant, casual and street. The key to suave Spanish style is ease and minimalism. And Maria enraptures both of those elements perfectly.

With summer just a few short weeks away, we have been stocking up on some of our favorite pieces for the season. Fringe bikinis, beach pants and anything/everything crocheted are some of the items we cannot live without this summer. Keep reading to find out how you, too, can stay in style this summer in some of our favorite trends:
Our obsession with fringe took off this spring, and it’s not being halted by the summer season. While we love fringe dresses, rompers and accessories, one of our favorite fringed items is a bikini. Fringe takes any bathing suit from basic to adorable. Choose a fringe bandeau top for a little extra summer spunk, or how about a fringed halter bikini (which might we add, is extremely flattering). Whatever your bathing suit style of choice is, add some fringe and you’ll be the ultimate boho beach babe this summer.
Beach pants are an absolute necessity for the summertime heat. They are light, flowy and adorably chic! And while these pants serve as the perfect beach cover-up, this style is ideal for almost any occasion, whether that be lounging with friends, kicking back by a bonfire, heading to the movies or strolling in the park. Pictured above are some of our favorites. The Victoria’s Secret linen beach pant is casual and laidback, while the pattern of the Billabong Bright Bayou adds a little extra style. We adore this style and think that it’s a must have for every girl this summer.
The two of us love anything and everything crocheted for summer 2014. Whether your item of choice is a maxi cardigan, an itty-bitty sundress, a pair of short shorts, or a cute crop top, if it’s crocheted, then it’s absolutely summer-worthy. Crocheted items are perfect for the sunny weather because they are light and give off a relaxed, beachy vibe. For extra style points, choose a colored crocheted piece instead of a traditional nude. Above are some incredibly affordable yet completely adorable crocheted pieces that we love. Who knew that lookin’ cute and keepin’ a college gal’s budget could be so effortless?
Here’s to hoping that you all have a fantastic (and stylish) summer!
Sincerely,
From The Roberts

Bitter cold winter days will shortly be a thing of the past. Soon you will be able to kiss goodbye your beloved winter wardrobe and embrace your spunky spring style (the two of us are counting down the days!!) The fashion transition from winter to spring can be completely seamless and completely inexpensive if you follow a few of our tips:
1. Accessorizing is a super easy way to change things up without having to overhaul your entire wardrobe. A lightweight scarf will be one of your BFFs during this transition: not only can thin scarves be super cute, but they’re also the perfect accessory for this transition period’s sometimes awkward weather. One of our personal favorites is this paisley scarf from Pacsun (it’s also only $11.86 ... talk about a steal). The two of us are all about infinity scarves: to create one out of this scarf, simply tie the ends together; an easy way to achieve an adorable look.
Another accessory we love for the spring is simple: light bags rather than heavy totes. Swap out your bulky purse for a light clutch or a cross body bag.
2. Color is an essential styling tool to any gal’s wardrobe. Adding some color to your washed-out winter wardrobe pallet is an easy way to transition your style. Choose pretty pastels and bright neons these next few weeks in order to segway your look.
Retailers are well-aware of the styling struggle that takes hold of every woman during this time. During this transition period, retailers create timeless pieces in a variety of spring-based shades. Pictured below is an adorable and inexpensive Forever21 striped cardigan in three perfect springtime shades.
3. Layer it!
One of our favorite layer options this spring fashion season is cropped, hoodless sweatshirts. Adding one of these up and comers into your closet can bring your gear from drab to fab. On a colder day, throw on a long sleeve button down and layer it with a bright cropped sweatshirt. And when warm weather is officially upon us, pair your cropped sweatshirt with a high waisted skirt or layer it over a plain dress! The cropped sweatshirt is an easy layer that is fun, light and trendy!
4. But the most inexpensive way to transition? By changing up your nails and your makeup! Opt for a fresh-faced look with natural tones. A nude lip or a pastel pink will instantly bring your face a fresh spring look. As for your nails, ditch the dreary winter blacks and greys and stick with lighter polishes. Our go-to color for the spring season is Essie’s “Fiji.”
We totally understand the awkward transitioning between seasons, especially the unpredictable winter to spring change. But, with these tips, we hope we have made it a little easier for all of you fashionistas out there who are trying to stay stylin’ on a budget!
Sincerely,
From the Roberts

Accessories are a crucial part of any killer outfit. Whether it be a chunky statement necklace, a head wrap headband, or a set of stacked bracelets, the utilization of accessories in any outfit can completely up your fashion game.
Right now, our favorite accessory is both cheap and chic. Little Words Project, a company founded by TCNJ alumna Adrianna Botti, sells bracelets that have words of encouragement strung in between crystal beads. Wearers of Little Words bracelets are to wear their word of positivity for as long as need be, and then when they feel the time has come, they are to pass on their Little Word to another individual.
Although we adore the bracelets largely because of how dang cute they are, we mostly support the company for its project-based purpose. (Plus we think it’s pretty cool that a TCNJ alumna is the brains behind the movement).
We first spotted the trend on the wrist of senior communication studies major Stefanie Urso. Stefanie’s bracelet has the word ‘dream’ on it. When we asked Stefanie about her choice of bracelet she told us, “It was one of the pre-made bracelet options. But it was perfect. The word was short, light and hopeful. And wearing it on my wrist was the best way to remember to always feel that positivity.”
Both of us Roberts girls are very proud owners of Little Words Project bracelets. Samantha sports a customized bracelet featuring the word ‘serendipity’ on it. She believes that when you least expect it good things come your way. Wearing the word on her wrist is a constant reminder to keep patient, keep calm and remain optimistic.
The Little Words Project bracelets are a complete steal. Not only are they a perfect addition to some arm candy, but they’re also incredibly priced. The bracelets, made of fine-cut crystal beads, are only $18. For any college lady out there living on a budget and still trying to flourish in fashion, we suggest you check out our current favorite trend, the Little Words Project. Bracelets can be purchased at littlewordsproject.com
