Lions' Plate: Savory Holiday Stuffing

For the month of November, I want to share my favorite Thanksgiving recipes. Turkey is usually the star of the show, but I like to focus on the side dishes that truly bring the whole meal together. This recipe is for a classic side dish that I always reach for before the turkey is even placed on the table — stuffing. 

This simple dish is perfect for Thanksgiving with friends and family members (Envato Elements).

Since my family makes too many different side dishes, we opt for the most convenient version of our stuffing, and we use it to stuff the turkey, as well as a side of its own. The recipe is simple and doesn’t take long at all.

Ingredients: 

-3 stalks of celery, diced
-1 large onion, diced
-4 tbsp butter
-12 oz of bread cubes (I use prepackaged stuffing)
-2 cups of water or chicken broth
-2 eggs
-2 Tbsp Bell’s Seasoning Blend

Directions:

1.) In a saucepan on low heat, melt half of the butter and sautée the celery for two minutes, then add in the onion and sautée until the onions are soft. 

2.) Next, add the remainder of the butter, seasonings, and about ? of the bread cubes until they are buttery and soft.

3.) Meanwhile, mix the eggs with the water or broth in a separate bowl until combined. Pour into the pot with the butter and mix. Add in the rest of the bread cubes and mix until combined. Continue to cook over low heat until the bread soaks up all the liquid. 

4.) Be sure to cook the stuffing thoroughly to avoid consuming raw eggs, and enjoy!
