Four alumni who won county’s New Jersey Teacher of the Year speak on panel

Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), the international education honor society, and the School of Education co-sponsored an event with four of the College’s alumni who have been voted as best county teacher in New Jersey. On Oct. 27 Christine Girtain, Kristen Dunleavy, Gina DiMaggio, and Leigh Cline came together to give future education graduates advice.

Spirit Week wraps up with homecoming activities and performances

The College’s campus welcomed students and parents to enjoy this year’s annual homecoming activities on Oct. 21 and Oct. 22. Student government collaborated with the Division of Student Affairs to plan the entire week’s events, including the weekend’s Homecoming Fest. The Student Finance Board funded the commencement events of the weekend.

Cultures unite at the Cultural Block Party

To end the month of recognizing cultural inclusion, the College hosted its first Cultural Block Party on Friday, Sept. 30 in the Trenton State College Park. A coming together of cultures on such a scale, however, is not something new for the College.

Anti-Violence Initatives volunteers led a workshop on sex misconceptions

Students gathered for a workshop about sexuality, sex and consent hosted by the College’s Counseling and Prevention Services (CAPS) on Sept. 28 in Brower Student Center 225 East. The meeting was run by fellow students who are part of the Anti-Violence Initiatives (AVI) under CAPS. Co-sponsors for the event were the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, Delta Zeta sorority, Kappa Delta sorority and the College’s gender and sexuality alliance, Prism.

In recent years, the debate over banned books has exploded in places like school board meetings, libraries and state senates, resulting in legislation restricting the books allowed in public libraries and K-12 schools.
