TCNJ Department of Music Showcase: A symphony of talent

The show started with the College’s Chorale, directed by John P. Leonard, featuring songs such as “This Little Light of Mine,” arranged by Moses Hogan and “Hold On!,” arranged by Jester Hairston. The fresh spin on “This Little Light of Mine” was melodic and soft, yet passionate and empowering. It called the audience to shine their light while embracing the light of others.

Charli XCX has her moment

“The Moment” follows Charli XCX’s post-album fame and the sudden push into the spotlight. The audience observes her as she faces difficulties such as venue lighting and how to stay relevant in the music industry. Ultimately, she woefully yet humorously captures the idea that this industry is not for the faint of heart, and that holding the star title is more gore than glamour.

Chappell Roan leaves talent agency after founder Casey Wasserman is named in the Epstein Files

Roan detailed the reason for her departure and her ethical perspective on the situation. “As of today, I am no longer represented by Wasserman, the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman,” she wrote. “I hold my teams to the highest standards and have a duty to protect them as well. No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values.”

34 years of ‘Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell’

For a time period consumed by the tail end of the hair metal craze and the beginning of the Seattle grunge scene, Social Distortion created its own sound. With the power of members Ness, rhythm guitarist Dennis Danell, bassist John Maurer and drummer Christopher Reece, the band molded multiple sub-genres to create its signature rockabilly sound.

Jersey Jalwa 2026: A celebration of passion and culture

The College’s’s two exhibition teams, TCNJ Jiva and TCNJ Saathiya, performed as well. The Jiva team took a more traditional approach with their dance, and told a beautiful story of a woman escaping a relationship to find herself. The music that came with it was impactful, filled with passion, energy and light. The love for dance was palpable throughout the stage.

‘Bridgerton’ returns with a Cinderella-inspired plot in Season 4

Taking inspiration from the classic “Cinderella” tale, the series has introduced its first commoner protagonist, Sophie Baek, who lives as a maid to her stepmother and two stepsisters. The first episode includes a masquerade ball, to which Sophie sneaks in and meets Benedict Bridgerton, who will be her love interest. Characters dress up as Zeus and pirates, and Lady Violet. Bridgerton is even dressed in a similar fashion to the Fairy Godmother, reflecting her well-known meddling in her children’s love lives.

CUB Alt presents: Throwback 80s Rock Show

Artists from Jon Bon Jovi to Van Halen and Motley Crüe were covered over the course of the night, with both bands also introducing some of their originals to the small but mighty crowd. Overall, event attendees were seen nodding their heads and tapping their feet to the beat.

2026 Oscars: What to look out for

The 2026 Oscar nominations were announced on Jan. 22 with Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” gaining 16 nominations, including Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Actress, Best Director, and Best Picture. “Sinners” is officially the most Oscar nominated film of all time, the record previously belonging to “La La Land,” “Titanic” and “All About Eve” with 14 nominations.

Don Toliver hits full throttle on 'OCTANE'

Don Toliver dropped his fifth studio album, “OCTANE,” this week. The Houston-born artist has been giving his fans no time to rest. “OCTANE” arrives just a year-and-a-half after his punk rap album, “Hardstone Psycho.” “OCTANE” is an upbeat, high-energy R&B mixture, making it a perfect album for late-night vibes. The title itself evokes fuel, speed and combustion, themes seen throughout the album.

‘Last of a Dying Breed’: Joji’s fragmentary EP

With a fourth record set for Feb. 6, Joji released a sporadic series of singles throughout the fall of 2025. To bind the four songs together, the musician released the four tracks from his upcoming album “Piss In The Wind” to Spotify in EP format twice — first with “LOVE YOU LESS” and again with the five-track “Last of a Dying Breed.”

Arctic Monkeys release new song for charity

The band has nonetheless returned to help benefit the War Child UK charity album. Set to be released on March 6, the star-studded album contains music from artists such as Damon Albarn, Big Thief, Fontaines D.C., Olivia Rodrigo, Wet Leg and Depeche Mode. With a mix of covers and unreleased relics, the album looks promising indeed.
