Just as its name implies, “Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy” is a three-part documentary following the life and career of recording artist, fashion mogul and record producer, Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. Before stealing the microphone from Taylor Swift at the VMA awards, the viral Tweet storms or the ten number one albums, Ye was a young producer in Chicago hustling to make a name for himself as a rapper. Directing duo Coodie & Chike followed Ye throughout his nearly two-decade career and watched his ups and downs in his journey to become the successful icon he is today. The third and final act of “Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy” released exclusively on Netflix on Mar. 2.

“The Hand of God” is an Italian film that was recently nominated for best international feature film at the Oscars. It was directed by Paolo Sorrentino and released in the United States on Dec. 1. The film is set in 1980s Naples and follows Fabietto, played by Filippo Scotti, a teenager who is trying to find his place in the world as he deals with sudden but drastic loss. “The Hand of God” is almost entirely in Italian, with only a few scenes including English dialogue.

Netflix released “The Weekend Away” on March 3, a psychological thriller based on the book by the same name, written by Sarah Alderson. Of the cast, you may recognize Leighton Meester, who previously starred as Blair Waldorf in “Gossip Girl,” among other productions.

Performed for the first time by TCNJ Musical Theatre (TMT) on Feb. 24 in Kendall Hall, “The Addams Family” featured an array of entertaining dance numbers, flower petals and comedic scenes that kept audience members on their toes. The result was a standing ovation and rave reviews about everything from the talented performers to the realistic costumes they wore.

CUB once again held another lively “Alt” concert, this time starring the bands Pink Shift and See Plus. The concert took place on Feb. 23 and began at 8 p.m. The songs carried the room away as people began dancing erratically, immersing themselves into the loud, heart-felt music.

The College’s orchestra is exploring new ways to better engage with the wider campus community by performing new genres of music, exploring the possibilities of collaborating with other ensembles and incorporating other types of performances throughout the year, according to Uli Speth, the conductor of the orchestra.

In August 2017, College alumnus Bryan Steward flew to Spain and embarked on the Camino de Santiago, a 500-mile pilgrimage stretching from Madrid to Galicia. Nearly five years after he set off, Steward recounted his trek in his book, “My Own Pace,” published on Feb. 19. Though he faced a number of challenges throughout his journey — including a severe case of food poisoning — Steward’s greatest obstacle is Becker Muscular Dystrophy (BMD): his rare, progressive neuromuscular disease.

I was lucky enough to see an early fan screening before it exclusively hits theaters on March 4, and I am so glad that I did because this movie is a masterpiece from start to finish.

“Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (2022) is the newly released sequel to the 1974 classic of the same name. It follows a group of young influencers looking to revive the ghost town of Harlow, Texas nearly fifty years after the original film. However, the group quickly realizes that the town of Harlow is a ghost town for a reason, that reason being the chainsaw wielding Leatherface, who kills everyone who crosses his path.

For Amulya Veldanda, a Class of 2018 graduate of the College who majored in biomedical engineering, reading and writing will always stay close to her heart. Ever since she learned to read, she would go to the library every day after school, indulging in numerous stories and rhymes. Veldanda may currently be a scientist at the Integra Lifesciences in Plainsboro, NJ, but her inner book-lover self has never withered. Now, she plans to self-publish her first children’s book “Cosmo Faces the Forest of Fears,” on Tuesday, March 1 — and she couldn’t be more thrilled.

The 2022 Oscar nominations were released on Feb. 8 and there has been a lot of buzz regarding who got nominated, as well as shock at who did not. The Oscars are a way to reflect on the films from the past year, and the awards give the more unseen roles in making a great film the recognition they deserve. I wanted to take some time today to talk about some of my favorite categories and give my predictions for who I think will win the Oscar in five of the most popular categories.
