Pause in SAF funding has implications for student orgs

Hafsah Shaik opened the email thinking it was just another ordinary update from the Student Finance Board (SFB), casually reading while sitting at work in the library. As she scanned through the email, though, her eyes widened as the gravity of the situation weighed down on her. She could read the words on the screen, but it didn’t seem to register them in her brain.

Jersey Mike’s opens in Campus Town

Jersey Mike’s is a New Jersey staple for submarine sandwiches, with approximately two thousand franchise locations across the United States. The Shoppes at Campus Town, directly outside of the College’s campus, gave Jersey Mike’s another homecoming with a new location, which opened on Feb. 2.

Snowstorm causes disorder on campus

The nor’easter that hit along the east coast on the weekend of Jan. 28 brought a slew of complications to the College community. The campus received at least five inches of snow, causing dangerous conditions for students residing on campus.

Three years later: Can tragedy strike twice in Campus Town?

Three years ago, the College community suffered one of its worst tragedies in recent history — an incident that is still vividly remembered by faculty, students and their families. Michael T. Sot, a 20-year-old sophomore math major and brother of Phi Kappa Psi from Clark, New Jersey, was fatally hit in a head-on collision while serving as a designated driver for his fraternity.

As of Dec. 3 on the Fall 2021 Covid-19 Dashboard, there were 17 positive cases in students and five among employees in the past 14 days (fall2021.tcnj.edu).

With recent rise in Covid-19 cases and concerns, the College turns to a three-pronged approach to testing

Following the Thanksgiving break and an increase in Covid-19 cases statewide, the College is combating the possible spread with a three-pronged approach to testing, according to an email sent to students on Nov. 29 by Director of Student Health Services Janice Vermeychuk. The College looks to monitor and lower the infection rate on campus in a timely manner using a three-pronged approach consisting of mandatory, random and voluntary testing.

Unión Latina’s Noche De Carnaval unites students through dance

On Nov. 14, Unión Latina hosted their annual gala in the Brower Student Center, with the theme this year being “Noche de Carnaval.” These galas, which have a different theme each year, are meant to celebrate Hispanic heritage and expose students to a taste of the Hispanic culture. These events have provided a formal night of dancing, socialising and food for over 10 years at the College.
