Highlights from the 50th Annual American Music Awards

After a long year of notable music releases, tours and performances, the 50th Annual American Music Awards (AMA) has come to an end. The show aired live on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 5 p.m. to share a love for music and to celebrate this year’s musical accomplishments. Winners were decided by fans who voted online.

'Falling for Christmas' Review: A Christmas Catastrophe

“Christmas is the time for miracles,” says child actress Olivia Perez in Netflix’s new film “Falling for Christmas.” Unfortunately, it’s not Christmas, and there are no miracles that could have saved the film. “Falling for Christmas” also stars “Mean Girls” actress Lindsay Lohan, Chord Overstreet and George Young. While Netflix released the rom-com on Nov. 10, the film did not kindle any joy for the upcoming holiday season and only created nonsensical cliches, cringe-worthy subplots and terrible acting.

KOHESION, a student-run Korean pop (K-pop) dance team at the College, hosted their debut showcase SPOOKHESION on Oct. 29 in the Brower Student Center with the support of various cosponsors, including Asian American Association (AAA), Barkada, Chinese Students Association (CSA), Indian Student Association (ISA), Japanese Student Association (JSA), Korean Student Association (KSA), Mexican Student Association (MEXSA), Taekwondo, Unified Greek Council (UGC), Union Latina (UL) and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

Art the Clown: The scariest clown in horror

“Terrifier” (2016) is an independent horror film that was written, produced and directed by Damien Leone. The film features a clown by the name of Art the Clown, brilliantly played by David Howard Thornton. Art the Clown is a demonic entity donning mime-like clothes and face paint, and always smiling to show his filthy teeth. Since the film’s release, Art has carved out a place for himself in the horror world, and with the release of “Terrifier 2” (2022), it is safe to say that Art has earned a place amongst some of the best villains.

A closer look: cosmic horror

Cosmic horror, also known as Lovecraftian horror, is a subgenre of horror created by its namesake, author H.P. (Howard Phillips) Lovecraft. To better understand the genre, I will discuss the central philosophy of cosmic horror, as well as look at some examples of cosmic horror films.
