The pressure to be accepted into a school with a reputable name is often a source of dread. Many students can become lost in the quagmire of competing with peers for acceptance at prestigious universities and many more students feel the embarrassment of not being accepted or being financially unable to go to one of these schools. In his new novel, “Party School,” John Hart offers a fresh take on a source of anxiety for many high school seniors.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ is one last perfect ride

In 2014, after the trailer for the first “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie was released, it was predicted to be Marvel Studios’ first flop. Nobody understood why they were making a movie about a bunch of D-List heroes that included a talking tree and raccoon. That movie went on to blow audiences away and establish that group of unknown Marvel characters as household names. Nearly a decade later, after an even more successful sequel and a Disney+ holiday special, the Guardians of the Galaxy returned on May 5 to face the music and end their trilogy.

How social media has become a mainstay in the entertainment industry

Social media offers a wide variety of platforms and features that create the perfect landscape for individuals in the entertainment industry to market their content. With 67% of teens indicating in a 2022 Pew Research poll that they use TikTok and 62% reporting that they use Instagram (compared to 52% in 2014-15), social media has a lot of opportunities to connect new entertainment releases with broader audiences.

‘Beau is Afraid’ review: A fever dream fantasy

After nearly four grueling years, critically acclaimed director Ari Aster released his third feature film “Beau is Afraid” on April 21. Starring Joaquin Phoenix as the titular character, we follow Beau, a paranoid and anxiety-filled man, on his odyssey back home to his mother’s house. While that premise seems simple enough, it quickly derails and morphs into a three hour long “nightmare comedy.”

The College showcases talent in their orchestra performance

It’s no question that there’s an unbelievable amount of talent at the College — ranging from artistry to areas of science. There’s also a significant amount of showcasing for the students with the talents, including “Scheherazade! Grieg Piano Concerto,” an orchestra's performance, held at 7:30 p.m. on April 21 at the Mildred & Ernest E. Mayo Concert Hall.

‘The Mandalorian’ season 3 was not perfect, but that's OK
